November’s Causeries Critiques : “the Structuralism of Passions”

Dear all,

You are warmly invited to join us for the second session of our annual critical theory seminar, “Causeries Critiques.”

Our guest speaker for the day will be Victor Collard. Victor is a third-year PhD candidate in Sociology at the Doctoral School of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).

This session will give us an opportunity to discuss Frédéric Lordon’s “Structuralism of Passions,” which Victor uses as a theoretical framework in his current research. More specifically, we will look at the article “Anti-humanisme théorique, humanisme et religion,” which you will find attached to this email as well as in our Dropbox.

The seminar will take place on Friday, November 15th from 10 am to 12 noon, in the Salle de Formation of the Maison de la Recherche (Paris 3), located at 4 rue des Irlandais 75005 Paris. The session will be held in French.

NB: The “Causeries Critiques” seminar is now part of the doctoral training course catalogue. We regularly invite francophone and anglophone participants to present the subject and theoretical background of their current research, in order to build a collaborative cartography of contemporary critical theory.

We hope to see many of you there!

Kind regards,
The Causeries Critiques committee.
